S7 Ashen Welcome
? Is it dangerous outside? (Scene Check)
d: 91 -> Exceptional No
tbl: Fully Bright
Heat and smoking ash rise toward the two. Shocking bright light. Squinting their eyes, the two are immediately sought after by some people.
Hundreds of men who look and dress like Sifi crowd the outer gates. A joint of five men are escorting Sifi and Leslie to the outer encampments. The pair’s hands are shackled behind their backs. Outrage and arguments ensue between the Brigands who recognize the two, and those who don’t.
“They did no wrong!”
“Then who come the knights in howling armor so easily took over?”
Eventually, the two are brought through the Brigand encampment walkways. Dull grey colored tents, where men and women tiredly walk to and fro. They prepare weapons of war — cannons, trebuchets, and the such — built with the knowledge of many rebelling artisans who did not delight in the champion.
? What does the sergeant look like? -> Equipped Friend + Dainty Creepy
? Does the sergeant want the pair to be freed?
d: 71 -> No
The guard himself feels familiar. Sifi knows not his name — but he knows that frown. The sorrowful, mournful scar formed into a violent, gum bleeding scar fixed downard to the gills on his face. The otherwise dainty soldier is marked by this look. His every word tinged with mourning ache, the sergeant pushes the pair forward. The familiar one commands, “Forward march. The Brigand wishes to speak to the hooded one. Leslie, you are to speak to him as well.”
Chaos Factor 5 -> 6
S8 Cutting Sorrow
? Do Sifi and Leslie get brought to Brigand? (Scene Check)
gen: Interrupt Scene -> Remote Event -> Easy Prison
Brigands will bring them to the Briand, with the intent of imprisoning them to be brought to the Lord of Chaos.
? Does the Brigand order the execution of the pair?
gen: Yes
While interrogating them, the Brigand whispers to the executioner to take them to the masts.
With gravel that shivers the very loins of its listeners, the Brigand makes himself heard. “The black dagger. How did you acquire it?”
Sifi responds. “At the Bandithaus, sir.”
? How does the Brigand respond? -> Disagreeable Abuse
The Brigand raises himself from the chair. The very tent over their heads trembles. All the men in the tent are overcome with fear.
While shifting armor plates make way for their movements, the towering form of the Brigand steps down. He wears no boots with his plate armor. His bare feet — blackened, disgusting — carresses the plush softness of the purple carpet.
Then, when arriving at the kneeling Sifi, he backhands him.
@ Bear the pain.
d: 17 < 14 -> F -> [P:Sifi|HP11-3=8]
Blood sputters out, spoiling the ornamented boots of a fellow bandit. Then, Sifi crashes on the floor. Towering overhead, the Brigand stares down. Then he kneels.
? Does Leslie say something? -> No
All Leslie can do is watch.
The towering man nods to his servants. With expediency they grab Sifi off the floor, and get to cleaning up his blood. They bring his belongings, and with flourish and showing they display the Oblivion Flayer to the Brigand.
? Does the Brigand kill Sifi with the Flayer?
-> Exceptional No
-> Attack Representative
Gently, he inspects the blade. Twirling between his skinny fingers. He takes off enough of his armor to feel the thing with his bare hand. Still standing, he strides over to Leslie.
“Death to the Champion.”
In unison, they chant.
“Death to the Usurper.”
Then the blade cuts at Leslie’s throat. The massive Brigand has his other hand at Leslie’s head. Scrunching up his lightning blue hair. He looks at Sifi in his final moments. Then life leaves his eyes.
Then a pain on the right temple, as Sifi sees nothing but blackness.
Chaos Factor 6 -> 7
Law: Ud6 -> Ud6
Chaos: Ud8 -> Ud10
Reflection
Started using Mythic Meaning Tables. Pretty good! However, it seems that the Oracle in the BSH book is flavored toward the system. I’ll try combining the two. Or, just sticking with Mythic. Who knows.
To be honest, I’m liking some of the concepts and suggestions in there — I have a part to play as a GM, not only as a player, when soloing. I have to think about questions that will force and push things into interesting areas. It might be a little slower, but this definitely feels rewarding.
Menagerie of Unbearable Things - Preview
Tania Herrero not only released Crown of Salt, also an amazing product, but this product as well. Incredibly flavorful. This is one of those things that makes you wish, gosh I wish I drew more as a kid / in general. Hey, it’s never too late to start, as they always say.
Hope you enjoyed this session. See you for the next.
