“It’s always been you, Miss Everett. I did this all for you. But you’ve no right! You’ve no right to betray me as you have!” Lawrence the cat shifts form — no longer friendly and poised, but pouncing and brimmed with aggression.

Just in time, Mabel unsheathes her Longsword and strikes the cat out of the way. Her pommel strikes in the stomach, stunning and causing the feline to curl slightly, paws to the gut. “You! Stay out of this!”

“My duty is to protect, and Miss Everett, protect you I shall!” Mabel leaps forth, decisively aiming for a thrust toward the right pectoral.

It lodges into the cat’s chest, deciding the combat in an instant. Mabel pushes weight into it, both hands on the handle, causing them both to fall on the ground, the cat on its back. Everett stands in embarrassed awe, several feet away in the ale room.

The cat wraps its furry paws around the blade, blood gently spewing forth from the wound, pooling around on the beautiful carpet. Lawrence purs, mews, and whispers something soft, unheard. Then the light in his eyes flicker away.

Everett approaches from behind, placing a hand on Mabel’s shoulder. “Sorry about that mess.”

Comforted, Mabel takes out a rag, beginning to clean up the sword. She nods solemnly.

“Come hither child, let us report to the Alegard. Furthermore, I must investigate the location of Captain Swimwise Hogwash. I shall let it fall upon you to make a certain decision, Miss Mabel.” Everett kneels down before Lawrence’s corpse, looking upon her fallen comrade. She attempts to conceal, levelly, mixed emotion. How can one be so quick to move on?

A ring, as Mabel sheaths her blade. It knocks in the scabbard a couple instances. “Maam, what decision?”

Everett remains kneeled, her disposition stern and melancholy. Gently, she makes her proposition. “Find Captain Hogwash, and you shall be in the greatest of graces of House Wakelyke. Whence we find more information, or if you would be so kind as to assist in the investigation, please lend your aid. Be it a rescue mission or a scouting effort, in your doing so will you be rewarded in good esteem, gold, and, of course, ale.”

Blood on the rag. Mabel pockets it. “Aye, maam. It would be my honor.”

Night time in the town of Prigwort. Mabel departs gladly from the Town Hall, certain to make her return on the morrow for her quest to search for the Alegard leader, Captain Hogwash. She travels through the aletown’s streets, and chilly winter air pesters the air.

Turning around the bend, Mabel arrives. Raptappen’s Quadrant. Black timber around a short, dwarish building. She walks past an elm, not too much taller than she is, to the front door, and makes her way inside to rest.

? Is someone bad in here?

After brief conversation with the saturnine, gaunt lady at the front desk, Mabel downtroddenly rests.

? Does Mabel dream?
-> No

Reflections

I went to an acting class today! Maybe I'll post some reflections on that...actually, I've been going to an acting class for the past few months. I've been enjoying it! It's great to return to something I used to do!

Fomoria Kickstarter

More Mörk Borg products. Love the art from her, and her adventures on itch.io. Perhaps I should link those in the future.

Looking forward to the next session, maybe I might record it in the future!
